During the 20 years Abbé Fouré, the eremite from Rotheneuf,
cut sculptures in the rocks beside the sea near St Malo
in Brittany.
Abbé Fouré lived between 1839 and 1910
and spent every day for 25 years to make the sculptures
in the rocks.

Outsider Art
The term Outsider Art was first used by art critic Roger
Cardinal as a synonym for Art Brut - Raw Art or Rough Art.
Dubuffet's term Art Brut is specific and the
English term "Outsider Art" is more broadly and include
self taught or Naive artists. Outsider artists have no contact
with the mainstream art world.

Rock Carvings
The Nordic Bronze Age, 1800 - 600 BC was characterized by
a warm climate comparable to that of present day Mediterranean.
Since 1994 the rock carvings in Tanum have been included
on UNESCO's world heritage list. The rock carvings is an
outstanding example of Bronze Age art.
